Jell

My site has been down for a while, but It's being fixed right now.

Missed comicon, visited North West to Seattle Washington, instead.

4 Jellies

jella-dy

An old sketch did in june for a bag design, but didn't use.
I hadn't seen the real sea jellies for a while. (until last week - went to 2 major aquariums in the west coast in one week) Sure now I have a better images of moving jellies in my head.

Jellies

When I was in Washington last week, my friend and I were walking around in Capitol Hills ourselves, like 2 stray cats. Found this card at an Indian tea and books store. The guy at the store joked about us said, "So are you girls going to find some friends to make an elephant now?"

Elephant Orgy Card Scan

Finally back home today! What surprised me was a full of mess...falling objects everywhere on the floor. I was told we had a kind of big earthquake earlier this week in LA...

Report:
2 of my big drawers slide opened, Cans and bottles I collected, books and some toys figures fell from high shelves to the ground. One of the sharp object fell on to the drum surface of my sansula piano and is BROKEN!!!
My other thumb piano also dropped high from the shelve.
A tall vase got knocked down.

What an earthquake...

Tuna Sandwich Rescue

Another piece I have for this show at Gallery 1988 in SF.

This character is kind of based on a good friend of mine who is planning to attend the vet school. Besides working at the animal clinic, she is also doing a lot of volunteer jobs here and there, includes service for horses, pigs and even tigers. I've watched videos and pictures of life in a vet school, it's fun but also very challenging! I think the real life there will be more than I can imagine. Hoping soon she will be able to share me more wondrous stories from her future school.

Reverie

Reverie
48x30
Acrylic on wood
2008
(sold)

A few things done the past week:
1. Start a new freelance project, mostly hand drawn and collage stuff.
2. Took a trip to ASW, shopped enough art supplies, bought another 48x30 wood panel, discovered some small/medium thinner wood panels (frame friendly), bought enough red transfer paper (my favorite), and white.
3. Drew and sketched my theme, 2 wood pieces for next show in SF.
4. Mode opening at Distinction. Hung out with Porreca and Willan. I'm lucky to be in the show with them, they are very sweet and amazing people. Met more friendly people at the opening, what a good time.
5. Spent time with my mother, siblings and animals on mother's day. Happy mother's day, Mom! (and every moms)
6. Gocco some small fabric prints.

Mode Preview 2

Melissa, the owner of Distinction is a very nice lady, she stopped by my place and help to take my finished piece down to the gallery this afternoon. It saved me one trip to drive back and forth to san diego county since this weekend I am gonna go there for the opening. The gallery is also getting each artist a hotel room to stay in town for the night of the opening this saturday, so we will be able to relax and have a chill time at the reception - I really wish! because I usually feel stressed out and nervous by talking to people...aye :)

I did document the finish piece, I will organize the photos and post in the next entry.
Here is a little something:

A Preview

Preview.

This is kind of a late update, I'm bad on keeping track on stuff I'm making or documenting the process. But here I tried. A piece I have been working since february. I've been going back and forth on this whole thing, because with other things I'm working on at the same time...busy.
This really took me 3 days just to transfer the drawing on to the wood surface. Literally I traced the whole thing 2 times.
The final painting will be showing at Distinction gallery next month.
